The significant difference between good natural rubber tires and pure synthetic plastic rubber tires lies in the durability of the rubber quality. See the image of two winter tires. Both tires have a hardness of 58 when brand new. After 2-3 seasons, the differences are enormous, and a hardness of 72 equals summer tires. The best natural rubber tires remain as soft and sticky in the rubber for at least 5 years, hence the 5-year guarantee on this durability, regardless of the production date. Now our best natural rubber tires also come with foam damping inserts that reduce interior car noise. Note that the EU's noise values are external noise measured at the roadside on completely smooth laboratory asphalt, and are therefore very misleading. We measure tire noise with a noise meter inside the car to provide the most accurate information about the tires shown in the configurator.
Therefore, we can guarantee that the natural rubber will not become harder and smoother for 5 years from the date of purchase, regardless of the production date. Natural rubber dust breaks down in nature, and by choosing a good natural rubber tire, you contribute to reducing the influx of microplastics into nature. Car tires account for almost 42% of the total amount of microplastics released into nature. By replacing plastic rubber/synthetic tires with natural rubber tires, the emission is significantly reduced. As is known, microplastics gradually turn into nanoplastics that end up in the drinking water and the air we breathe, accumulating in the kidneys, liver, and eventually the brain. Both Winrun R330 and Forceland F22 W-SILENT are a continuation of the market's most suitable summer tires for electric cars based on measurements that anyone can verify. Now the tires are delivered with foam inserts that dampen rumble noise, and the manufacturer believes they have solved the challenges and issues that we have previously noted with the well-known European tire brands. The foam insert is supposed to absorb less moisture and the glue is supposed to adhere significantly better, resulting in less weight gain on the tire than what we have previously measured on the European tire brands. See below for noise measurement at 75 km/h on a Tesla Model Y on Østre Akervei in Oslo, on moderately rough asphalt, compared to the noise-damped Hankook tire supplied with the car. Hankook tire has so far been the quietest tire in the market.
A tire with good EU noise values can make a lot of noise inside the car, as there is no correlation between noise measurements at the roadside and inside the car. For small dimensions up to 17 inches, there is almost no difference measured inside an e-Golf with dimension 225/45R17. See Youtube. The EU values have up to 6 dB difference in noise, but inside the e-Golf we measure differences within 0.6 dB. Food for thought!
For larger dimensions on heavy electric cars, we measure significant differences between many tire brands, and tires with sport structures (Marked on the website with SPORT) and harder rubber are the ones that make the most noise inside the car, even though many of these have low EU values.
Winrun is built on Comfort tire structures that provide significantly less tracking on asphalt with grooves, compared to European tires adapted to German Autobahn. On Nordic roads, you will experience significant improvements in road stability and driving experience on Winrun R330 W-Silent.
Control measured continuously throughout the life of the tyre.
Softer tire structure and rubber provide better wet grip on rough asphalt but worse on lab asphalt or track. On heavy electric cars in the Nordics, we guarantee better wet grip on normally worn asphalt, but the most important thing with Winrun and Forceland produced in Asia rather than Germany is natural rubber that retains the soft and sticky properties throughout the tire's life.
With its Treadwear of 420 (stamped on the tire side), Winrun has a very long lifespan and emits less rubber noise into nature. However, the most important thing is that the tire has a high proportion of natural rubber that breaks down and does not emit microplastics to the external environment. See article
Below is an information banner showing lower rumble noise with Winrun R330 W-Silent. We will test the tires against the original tires with a noise meter at eye level on new Tesla Model Y, 3, and S as soon as possible. Compared to Winrun R330 without foam inserts, we have measured a 1-2 dB reduction at 70 km/h, varying according to the roughness of the asphalt. At higher speeds (80-100), you will also achieve greater benefits. You can order Winrun R330 W-Silent here on the website and choose shipping or the stores listed in the last step of the order.
